The last couple of vintages have seen a return to classic seasonal patterns, where a cold rainy winter prepares the vines for warm temperatures later. In 2018, precipitation carried on into spring, extending the growing period several weeks past the preceding year. There were also fewer heat spikes this season, so the fruit ripened at a nice steady pace, providing slightly larger yields of very well-balanced fruit.

Petite Sirah is a powerhouse red grape that makes dark, inky wines with ample tannin, dark rich fruit flavors, and bold expressions of spice, pepper, and chocolate. Our 2018 Reserve Petite Sirah originates from the Bevill-Wolcott Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, located on the bench of the appellation’s foothills. This vineyard experiences excellent sun exposure and is comprised of well-drained gravelly-loam soils that produce excellent fruit concentration. The owners have a long history with this vineyard, know its intricacies, and consistently manage to coax intensely expressive, high quality fruit from these well pampered vines.
