Our Francis Coppola Reserve Viognier from Catie’s Corner Vineyard is highly impressionable, changing flavor each vintage, depending on the weather. The 2019 vintage showcases a range of fruit and floral notes. Rich and silky on the palate with a balance of bright, natural acidity, the wine’s body is matched by its aromatic profile of apricot and citrus, Flavors of nectarine, apricot, and orange peel on the palate, culminate in a spectacular finish.

Several years ago, we discovered a bit of magic in the Viognier fruit from the renowned Catie’s Corner Vineyard in Russian River Valley, and have been sourcing grapes from it ever since. The vineyard experiences a unique diurnal pattern, where there is often a 50-degree difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures. This climate condition allows the fruit to ripen slowly and retain crisp, natural acidity. The contrast also creates an expressive, multi-dimensional wine.

2019 was the first time that California has been 100% drought-free since 2011. Winter and spring rains provided sufficient water in the soil through midsummer. The vintage provided us with a mild growing season, and an average crop, in terms of quantity. Quality, however, remained outstanding. Once again, we are proud to present an outstanding Viognier.
