Winemaking has been a Coppola family tradition for several generations. So has making art and providing entertainment, from music and cinema, to dining experiences, and international hideaway adventures. This wine’s label, featuring Eleanor Coppola’s handwriting, is the original label design from the first Family Coppola wines bottled in the early 1980s. Three decades later, the family’s small wine endeavor is now an established wine legacy.

This distinctive pink and aromatic grape likes its home in the Russian River Valley area. Rich texture with a hint of round sweetness in the finish, the 2019 Gewürztraminer is special and unique, and pairs beautifully with smoked meats and spicy Asian cuisine.

Wine Notes

There aren’t a lot of wineries in Sonoma that grow Gewürztraminer, though it’s a much-revered wine in the Alsace region of France. The varietal is extremely floral and aromatic, and tends to have a spicy quality about it, which is why we fermented in stainless steel to preserve the fragrance. At its best, Gewürztraminer has rich, voluptuous body that is offset by a good degree of crisp natural acidity. Our staff loved the fruit and wanted to share it with you.

The Russian River Valley offers the perfect climate for varietals, like Gewürztraminer, which benefits from diurnal conditions. Fog rolls off the Pacific Ocean each afternoon and cools the temperature in the vineyard down as much as 35-40 degrees each evening. This differential allows the grapes to ripen slowly and retain their natural acidity for better balance.
