Wine Notes
There is a lusciousness to this vintage, but also vibrancy and a lighthearted character. The bouquet expresses exotic tones of lychee, peaches, and honeysuckle, but the striking minerality of other vintages is tempered this year, allowing citrus notes and floral nuances to shine. Silky on the palate, juicy flavors of pear and cloves are layered between zingy hints of lemon and quince, all of which crescendo on a fragrant finish.
The climate of the Russian River Valley is greatly influenced by fog that rolls in each evening from the nearby Pacific Ocean. This marine layer cools the vineyards down from their warm daytime temperature by as much as 35 to 50 degrees, creating a condition that allows the grapes to ripen slowly and retain their natural acidity for better balance. For this wine, we sourced our grapes from vineyards located at the warm end of the appellation where the fruit demonstrates richness and a silky texture.
