Francis Ford Coppola Winery and the surrounding estate vineyards are both certified by the California Sustainable Winegrowers Alliance (CSWA). This statewide certification program provides third-party verification of a winery’s commitment to sustainability and covers all aspects of operations including vineyards, wine production, worker safety, environmental impacts and continuous improvement.
As a wider initiative, Francis Ford Coppola Winery is part of Sonoma County Winegrower’s three-phase commitment to become the nations’s first 100% sustainable wine region by 2019. sonomawinegrape.org/sustainability
In an ongoing effort to reduce our carbon footprint, We recently joined the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Green Power Partnership Program, which recognizes us for getting 33% of our electricity from renewable energy sources, like geothermal, solar, and wind – essentially reducing our carbon footprint by the equivalent of 266 passenger vehicles, or the energy use of 115 homes for a year.
The Francis Ford Coppola Winery estate vineyards, which include two blue line creeks that flow through the property that are part of the Russian River watershed, are also certified through the Fish Friendly Farming program, which ensures our vineyards protect local waterways, helping provide an improved habitat for migrating steelhead and coho salmon.
