Francis Coppola Reserve Chardonnay

The 2022 Francis Coppola Reserve Chardonnay is complex and bold, with aromatic notes of quince, winter fruits, and vanilla. Silky, balanced flavors of fresh honeysuckle, butterscotch, baking spices, and ripe fruit culminate in a long, lush finish.

We frequently source from the esteemed Dutton Ranch because their exceptionally well cared for vines consistently produce the most expressive Chardonnay. These selections benefit from the diurnal condition afforded by a coastal climate, where day and nighttime temperatures experience a 30–40˚ difference. Not only does this allow the fruit to ripen slowly and accumulate concentration, but it also helps the grapes retain a better amount of natural acidity – an essential component in crafting a complex Chardonnay.

The 2022 vintage started early, with spring bringing welcome rain that filled the soil profile, giving vines the water and nutrients needed to grow. An overall mild summer with warm days and cool nights was ideal for grape maturity. Overall, a lighter crop than average in quantity, but still excellent in quality.
